6th Grade Team

After graduating from The Evergreen State College with a degree in Creative Writing and Literature, I pursued various passions before being called to teaching. Now I teach 6th grade ELA here at Impact and I love it! I work hard with my students to create an environment in which all students feel welcome.

In my spare time I like to cook, dance, read and hike with my family. My favorite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo.

Hello students, families, and staff! My name is Ms. Carmen V. Mercado. I am new to Impact Prep Middle School! However, I attended Springfield Public Schools from K-12 and have been part of Springfield's Northend community for over 20 years.

I received Dual Bachelor's Degree in Elem Ed (1-6) with a Psychology concentration, from Westfield State University. Before coming here I work at Baystate Medical where I held a position as a Community Health Educator.

I chose to teach MATH because now there are so many new strategies. I personally excelled at it and just love working with numbers. Hope some of our students enjoy it as much as I do and for those who don't, that I can change their mind. Can't wait to meet them!!
